This website is intended to provide our stakeholders with information and updates related to PACE Canada's 25.9MW proposed solar farm located within the urban boundaries of Brooks, Alberta.

PACE Canada has registered a proceeding with the Alberta Utilities Commission for the proposed project. The AUC proceeding number for the Salt Flats project is 28638.

Renewable energy permitting moratorium

In light of the Government of Alberta's decision to place on a moratorium on the permitting of renewable energy projects, PACE Canada would like to take this opportunity to advise our stakeholders that our projects will continue to move through the development process. We will apply for permitting to the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) in March 2024 and anticipate a fall 2024 construction start date if permitting is received. Public Involvement Program

The Public Involvement Program for the proposed project launched December 16, 2022 when all stakeholders within 800 metres were sent a notification package announcing the project details. Since this time, PACE acquired additional lands to the south of the original project area and a second mailout package was sent to all original and newly impacted stakeholders within 800 metres. Two in-person public information and consultation sessions have taken at the Brooks public library (January 5 and March 16, 2023) and a third session is planned for Wednesday October 25 at the same location. Personal consultations are still underway with all occupants within 400 metres of the proposed project. PACE staff are attempting to contact occupants by telephone or during visits to the community. If you are interested in a personal consultation, please contact us my phone or email.
